The Boy Who Bounced Between Doors

The Boy Who Bounced Between Doors

Young soul

Mind crying out

Learning life too quickly

Two homes

Not twice secure

A small boy

No coat

No shoes

On the wet road

Running in the dark

Heading for his safe haven

It isn’t right

That you need to flee

No sense from there

Come to where it’s calm

Softer voices

Be heard

Understood

A broad shoulder

For tears to dry against

Clinging on

Such sadness

As you must be returned

How adults fail you

A toy ball

Bouncing between two doors

Not a game you chose

Fear not child

Safety is here always

Until you can decide

Your own rules
